Provisional Regulations (Supplementary) in respect of mining in the
Kwong Tung Province.
Chapter I.

Regulation 1. Deputies for Mining Affairs in the various districts should have power to deal with all affairs in connection with mining, but should have no right to make any decision unless in conjunction with the local Authorities of their respective distric- -ts in anything which is outside the sphere of mining. Regulation 2. Only Chinese may be appointed deputies for Mining Affairs who must have some knowledge of mining, but these posts shall by no means be filled by foreigners. This, however, is not applicable to posts of Mining Inspectors.
Resulation 3.
Each Deputy shall;-
(a). Notify the various mine-owers the address of his
office and the districts under his charge.
(b). Forward in accordance with the mining regulations any application or petition of any mine-owner or any person pros- -pecting for mines.
(c). Deal with all ordinary mining affairs in accordance with the regulations, but any important case must be submitted to
the Commissioner of Industry for his consideration.

(d). Make enquiry from time to time as to the mines under

Regulation 4. Any such Deputy shall refuse to deal with any case in which:-
